About

This is a blog to narrate my impressions on Valmiki’s Ramayana that we have started reading in Sai Temple in Billerica, MA since May, 2013.  We read three hundred stanzas per session and we have two sessions a month.  We meet on Sundays from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM.  We read together and I explain the important topics after every ten stanzas or so.  Here I summarize my interpretation. It is expected that we would complete the book in three and half years.  The first five posts in the blog talk about my journey in reaching to Ramayana, the subsequent ones describe the story sequentially by chapters.  Please feel free to read and comment!

About 3rd session in my reading, I discovered that a good readable translation of this beautiful material does not exist.  So I am offering a literary translation as we read. The translation follows the Sanskrit text published by the Gita Press in Gorakhpur, India.  I post the translations from the 4th session of the reading.  They could take further editing which I will do after I complete the work.  Also lately I explain as we read, hence we get slow.  We cover about two hundred stanzas per session.  Given two sessions per month, I target to finish the reading and translation in four years.
